As I work my way through the 5 planned editions, I'll post them here. With each edition, I plan to add a layer of complexity to the inking process. With luck, by the time I get to the 5th edition, I'll be able to achieve the multicolor gradient work that characterizes my smaller work at this jumbo scale!
Here's a breakdown of this piece by the numbers*
- 24x36- These are the dimensions of the finished piece. It's the largest block of linoleum I've ever carved!
- 17- This is the number of prints that will be part of each edition. It's inspired by the number of known red wolves currently living in the wild.
- 5- This is the number of editions I plan to make from this carving. It represents the number of Red Wolves killed by vehicles in approximately the past year. Each edition will have a different colorway, and each will consist of 17 prints total.
- 20- this is the number of hours I spent simply sketching the design for this massive print. (I didn't track the carving time-- but it took about a week.)
- 20%- This is the percentage of each sale I will donate to red wolf conservation.
*note- These numbers are changing constantly-- so these stats were the most current I could find when I created this piece in the summer of 2024.
The Cost of the Artwork is $500, and the $30 extra online is a handling fee to cover the price of packaging materials for this piece. If you buy this piece in person the cost is $500.
