Lately we've been obsessing about this bold, textured colorway of my popular Great Blue Heron pattern. The main heron motif for this pattern began life as a block print. We sold through the editions from this carving years ago, but the heron lives on in this art nouveau inspired pattern, available as wallpaper, fabric, and stationery. By hand-inking upholstery fabric swatches from our local Scrap Exchange, I was able to create some texture files to layer into this artwork, to give the printed piece a more hand-made feel that references back to the original block print.
Here we've paired this cotton canvas swatch with oak and walnut species, as well as a coordinate fabric for a bold stylish look rooted in nature.
